For those of us who can barely draw a stick-make without messing it up, Breon O'Casey's success as a painter, sculptor, printmaker, jeweller and weaver may seem a bit unfair. And, yes, perhaps Breon has absorbed a little more than his fair share of artistic ability but, to give the guy his dues, at least he hasn't wasted any of it!
Over the years he's produced some truly stunning works of art and craft, using his own unique style to bring to life his observations on - and genuine love of - life, nature and humanity. Recently he's been concentrating mostly on painting and sculpture, creating work that ranges from quite and dignified to daring, fun and quirky.
This new exhibition, launched in celebration of his 80th birthday, will feature work focused on the human form, nature, landscapes and animals (particularly birds). As always, it's Breon's sincerity of appraoch and genuine belief in the art he's creating that gives his work heart, and makes it such a joy for the rest of us that we can even bring ourselves to forgive him for getting all the talent!
