As well as the DART, there are four suburban rail lines serving Dublin
and its environs.
The Northern Suburban takes over from the DART at Portmarnock and Malahide. It follows the coast to Dundalk and Drogheda, stopping in the seaside towns of Rush, Skerries, and Laytown
The South Eastern Suburban starts where the DART leaves off in Bray and Greystones, continuing to Wicklow town, Rathdrum and Arklow.
The Western Suburban line heads out towards Maynooth in Co. Kildare and Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, while the Kildare Suburban serves the southern part of Co. Kildare, calling to Newbridge and Kildare town.

Intercity rail
There are two intercity train hubs in Dublin, Connolly Station in the city centre and Heuston Station in Dublin 8.
Connolly Station (which is on the DART and suburban lines) seves the north (Belfast) and northwest (Sligo) routes, while you'll depart from Heuston to go west to Mayo or Galway, or south to Limerick, Cork, or Waterford.
Connolly and Heuston aren't connected to each other by rail. That problem is being dealt with by the new Luas system, but in the mean time the Railink bus (route no. 90, fare €0.90) joins the two stations via Bus Áras, the regional bus hub.
