Easy Access to Dublin City Centre with Improved Transport!
Dublin City Centre has never been easier to access with more modes of transport available than ever before. Dublin Bus now provide over 1200 buses serving over 200 routes in Dublin city. One of the reasons behind the success of Dublin Bus is the Quality Bus Corridors allowing travel to be speedier and more efficient. Bus Corridors have massively increased from 12kms of road in 1999 to an impressive 84kms today. An important feature of Dublin Bus routes are the provision of cross-city access to the main shopping districts.
The Irish Rail Service is now performing better than ever before with over ninety trains travelling to Heuston and Connolly Station from various regions across Ireland. The DART Upgrade initiative means that trains operate every 5/10 minutes during peak times. There is now on average only a gap of twenty minutes between DARTs during off-peak times. The Sunday schedule has also improved with DART's running every twenty-thirty minutes.
The introduction of the Dublin Luas has been a real breakthrough for getting around Dublin city. Both the Red and Green Line provide Park and Ride Facilities where parking costs only €4 for an entire day and €2 for half a day if you have purchased a Luas ticket. The Luas makes getting into Dublin city fast providing a comfortable and efficient service. The Green Line that begins at Sandyford travels to St. Stephens Green in 22 minutes. The Red Line will make the journey from Tallaght to Connolly Station in approximately 50 minutes.
For late night revellers, the Dublin Bus Nitelink service is a cheap and easy way to return home. Running at 12.30am and 2.00am Monday -Thursday and for an extended period on Friday and Saturday, the nitelink costs €4 and is a convenient transport option. Dublin taxis also provide an excellent service. There are 12,000 taxis and 1,200 hackney cabs available so getting around Dublin city is just easier!
