Cow's Lane Market Moves Indoors!

A perfect venue for Christmas shopping in Dublin is the Cow's Lane Fashion and Design market.

The market sells everything from fashion clothing, belts, bags, umbrellas, photography, fine art to ceramics and jewellery.

Cow's Lane Market opened earlier this year in July. Since then it has gone from strength to strength. In September the market expanded to facilitate 17 new stallholders. Cow's Lane market has now moved indoors until March 2004 so that shoppers don't have to bear the brunt of the cold weather. Once-off and unusual pieces of Ireland's up and coming designers will be available at the new location of Ss. Michael and John's Banquet Hall.

The top designers whose unique one off garments are sold in the market include finalists Suki and Nic Cruz from Suzuki Jimmy Young Designer of the Year Award as well as Special K Award winner Therese McKeane. Other well known collections include Tomm Thumm children's wear collection, avant-garde and interesting objects from Munroe & Hynes, clothing by Electronic Sheep. Drunk Monk branded specialized t-shirts and tops from Richard Doody and Fergal Swan are on sale. There's also designs made from hemp by Essie Freeman and also knitwear from mature designers Alex Lairds and Ruth Morris.

Accessories are available in all shapes and sizes. There are once-off small elegant handbags, purses and original accessories from Joan Ellison, hand made jewellery and Italian Resin jewellery from Jennifer Kinnear of Kink Bijoux. Paula Boyle also has a collection of unique jewellery and handbags on sale at Cow's Lane.

The extension of Cow's Lane Market will see additional stallholders such as textile artist Helen James with her range of tea towels and tote bags, Alan Boyle's ceramics, Caoimhe O'Dwyer's hand made underwear, a range of hand printed aprons, bags and umbrellas from Jenny Cassin's Wee Penny Pink label.

Other additions to the market include Ciara Garvan's “shabby chic” furnishings, Jasmine Russell's label Chicktease based on the principles of individualism, eclecticism, and the use of vintage fabrics, Aine Teahan's and Mark Byrne's contemporary and vibrant art canvas pieces.

Cows Lane market is certainly the place to shop for accessories. Jewellery by Michelle Tuck is now available and bag designer Chloe Stevens has bags on sale. The list of new stallholders adds even more quality and colour to the market including hand made ties, notepads and clothes from Jane Geraghty, pashminas, cushion covers, jewellery and sunglasses by Catherine McGuinness.

Cows Lane Fashion and Design Market is now located in Saint Michael and John's Banquet Hall (around the corner from Cows Lane) and opens every Saturday from 10am-5.30pm.
