An artist and a librarian teamed up to open one of Dublin's best speciality bookstores. Susan O'Brien worked for twelve years in New York as a librarian and always dreamed of owning her own bookshop. Susan met her business partner, Cecilia Dougherty in New York at a meeting of the Irish Lesbian and Gay Organisations. Cecilia has produced over 25 videotapes and published articles and stories in a range of journals. The two decided to return to Dublin and open a bookstore that stocked cutting edge literature. Their aim is to provide a wide range of topics so that the bookshop will appeal to Dublin's diverse population.
Anthology Books offers everything from fiction, children's books, poetry, art, film, gay and lesbian literature, digital media and photography. This Dublin bookshop even stocks an impressive range of music offering CD's form independently recorded groups and micro-distributors that represent local as well as global talents.
Anthology Books sells speciality books, independent music and a wide range of Free Trade products including coffee, tea and chocolate. Customers are welcome to a warming cup of Fair Trade coffee as they browse through the fantastic selection of alternative literature. Susan and Cecilia have brought a little of New York home with them stocking a nice selection of authentic and durable products from New York designers based on the Lower East side.
