After a 5 year stint behind closed doors, Naughtons Bookshop in Dun Laoghaire has re-opened - with the addition of a stunning photographic gallery. In 2002 Susan Naughton, founder and owner of Naughton's Bookshop, decided to embrace modern technology by closing down her store in Marine Terrace to operate online instead. However, while business boomed for Susan, Dubliners lamented the physical absence of the store, which had enchanted customers for years with its quaint setting (it's run from the basement of a beautiful Georgian house on the Dun Laoghaire Seafront near the People's Park) and friendly, family atmosphere.

So this Autumn, Susan (along with her sons, Michael and Patrick) decided to cave to popular demand and reopen the bookshop - but this time with an artistic twist! The Naughton Photographic Gallery features fine art black and white Dublin landscapes and seascapes, taken by photographer Patrick Naughton, who also runs the gallery. These enchanting photos add to the old-world atmosphere of the bookshop, and have has already received a hugely positive response from customers. Indeed, although the gallery itself a new addition, the store has always traded in images - with maps and prints have making up a popular part of the shop's stock since it first opened its doors in 1978.

The store also has huge selection of antique and second-hand books, ranging from inexpensive paperbacks to more costly (but valuable) antiquarian editions and limited editions signed by the authors, and with almost 20,000 books in stock there's sure to be something for everyone.
