A tribute to the many literary talents to emerge from our fair city, the Dublin Writers Museum paints their portraits through books, letters and personal items.
The Museum
The Dublin Writers Museum is located in a magnificently restored Georgian building on the north side of Parnell Square, and includes a bookshop, a café and a gallery space on the ground floor.
The building also houses the Gorham Library where the museum's reserve of books is kept, which was named for Maurice Gorham (1902-1975) who first proposed the Writers Museum to the Tourist Board.
Next door to the library is The Gallery of Writers, a salon decorated with portraits and busts of many writers who contributed to our wealth of culture, and to that of the world at large.
The museum organizes a number of events, including lunchtime tours and talks and exhibitions in the gallery space.
