National Museum

Located on Kildare Street, the National Museum of Ireland was opened in 1890 and was the result of merging together the collections of the Royal Dublin Society, The Royal Irish Academy and later on the Royal Society of Antiquaries of Ireland.

The archaeological collections include; “Prehistoric Ireland”, Ireland's Gold (finest collection of prehistoric gold in Europe), “The Treasury” (Celtic and Medieval art), and “Viking Age Ireland”. “Ancient Egypt” gives a glimpse of a fascinating civilisation. “The Road to Irish Independence” deals with the struggles for Irish freedom 1916-1921.
