This walk will take you along some of Dublin's most elegant Georgian
streets, but you will also experience more private areas and back
lanes.
Summary You will see where modern developments during the 1970s and 80s despoiled some Georgian streetscapes, and discover a wondrously ornamented but secluded park that was only officially opened to the public a few years ago, and is still undergoing development.
Start: National Gallery of Ireland. Buses: 5, 7, 8, 45, 46, 84. DART: Pearse Station. Parking: Several nearby multistorey car parks or on-street disk parking.
Finish: St Stephen's Green Hotel, St Stephen's Green. Buses: 10, 11, 14. DART: Pearse Station or Tara Street Station (15 minutes' walk). Parking: Several nearby multistorey car parks or on-street disk parking.
Length: 2.4 km (1.5 miles). Time: 1 hour. Refreshments: There is no shortage of hotels and pubs along many parts of the route. Pathway Status: Pavements throughout, as well as grass sections in the parks. Best Time to Visit: Any time of year and during the daylight opening hours of the parks. Suitable for Bicycle: Yes, but you will have to walk your bicycle through the park.
