Duke of Wellington (1769-1852)

A bas-relief on the pedestal of the Wellington Testimonial in the Phoenix Park depicts a battle scene from the Duke of Wellington's Indian Campaign.

The Battle of Waterloo is featured on the opposite side of the pedestal. The reliefs were cast in bronze from captured enemy cannon. Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, was born in Mornington House (now the Merrion Hotel), 24 Merrion Street, Upper.
