Blessington Street Basin, a tiny park of under 2 acres (.75 hectares),
is one of the hidden treasures of the north inner city.
Extensively refurbished in 1993/4 it was built in 1803 as a reservoir for the city water supply. It can be reached on foot in less than 10 minutes from O'Connell Street via Parnell Square and Frederick Street North.
