Knockmaree Cist, a Neolithic burial mound, was discovered in 1838 close to St Mary's Hospital in the Phoenix Park. Six human remains, accompanied by food vessels, were found in the tumulus. A vivid reconstruction of the chamber is on display at the Ashtown Castel Visitor Centre, in the Phoenix Park.
