James Joyce Centre

A vibrant cultural centre dedicated to Dublin's greatest writer.

The James Joyce Centre is located on North Great George's Street around the corner from O'Connell Street in a beautifully restored 18th century townhouse. The James Joyce Centre is dedicated to promoting an understanding of the life and works of James Joyce through an imaginative combination of exhibitions, events, reading and educational programmes.

The centre sees Dublin City as the most valuable document to understanding Joyce and is perfectly located in the North Inner City, the setting of much of Joyce's works. Belvedere College Joyce's school lies at the top of the street and Eccles Street the fictional home of Leopold Bloom is a short walk away.

The James Joyce Centre also contains the Guinness Library housing a broad range of Joycean texts and criticisms. The library also contains a large selection of translations of Joyce and a section devoted to Joyce's Irish contemporaries. The James Joyce Centre also features the door of No.7 Eccles Street, the fictional home of the Blooms, a bookshop and an exhibition space. A cultural centre that instills great imagination and enthusiasm for all things Joycean, The James Joyce Centre is well worth a look.
