This charming gourmet shop sells a wide variety of speciality breads,
pastries and cakes.
There's Onion and Bacon white bread, Irish Brown Bread, Ciabatta, Black Olive bread and Rye French bread, all for under €3.00. The Pastries include Pear and Chocolate parcels, Fruit Danishes, Croissants of all kinds including Almond or Chocolate croissants.
Les Maisons des Gourmets also have a luxury café upstairs which seats 20 people. Breakfast is served between 9am and 11.30am. Breakfast includes an impressive assortment of drinks such as smoothies and freshly squeezed orange juice. There is a regular coffee selection on offer made by a qualified barista. The choice of teas on offer is tremendous ranging from the brand “ The House of Mariage Freres & Ronnefeld” and fruit infusions to all sorts of black teas from the usual Irish Breakfast Tea to Ruschka – a Russian Afternoon Blend. And the range of teas doesn't stop there, Les Maisons Des Gourmets provide an exquisite range of Green Teas. There's Buddha Blue, which is a velvety and fruity sweet green tea, and Jasmin Mandarin, a sweet jasmine green tea.
Light breakfast snacks such as French toast, Fruit Yoghurt, and organic porridge served with a choice of toppings are available. For a more wholesome breakfast there's a Traditional French Countryside Breakfast €9.50. This is served with a selection of Charcuterie (cured ham, mortadella) and Cheese (emmental, brie served with warm Ficelle)
The décor is charming, Deep red velvet high chairs and couches surrounded by small wooden tables a high ceiling and fantastic Georgian style window which is the centerpiece of the rear wall small flowers prettily decorate each table.
The lunch and afternoon tea menu offers many delectable French dishes. Specials on offer change daily, when dublinks.com visited one of the specials was a succulent confit of rabbit leg with cep stuffing, crushed potato and wholegrain mustard cream for €14.95. There are three different Tartines on offer a vegetarian option, one with baked ham and thyme and a third with duck confit and onion and marmalade and salad €12.00. All tartines are served on warm sour dough bread with a tossed salad. Another signature dish of Les Maisons des Gourmets is Beef Bourguignon with Baby Potatoes, and scented with Rosemary Butter. There is an impressive selection of wines for a small and elegant café sold by the glass, half bottle and bottle.
Thursday to Saturday afternoons are the busiest times at Les Maisons Des Gourmets and it is recommended that diners pre-book on these popular afternoons.
