Café Salsa is where and what used to be La Mezza Luna on Dame street. It serves all kinds of food, but as you'd expect, there's a Spanish vibe with a good selection of tapas like Lamb Kofta for €6.95 or the Pollo Chorizo & Plancha (Chicken & Chorizo sausage sautéed & served on hot Foccacio Bread) for the same price. In terms of main courses on the dinner menu, there's seared salmon for €12.50 and Sirloin Steak for €18.
There's lots of space and another shopfront facing onto Temple Lane that so far retains the Mezza Luna moniker that'll no doubt be updated in time. There's a very welcoming atmosphere and I think they must pick their staff on the basis of how Mediterranean they look, even if the waitress we had turned out to be of German extraction. There's no cigar or pipe smoke permitted in the restaurant, while presumably you can still smoke eight cigarettes at once. There's a good choice of old and new world wines on offer.
So whether you're popping in for breakfast, a coffee and a bit of tapas, Lunch or an evening meal, Café Salsa is central, friendly and reasonably priced.
