The Metro Café must be an arch-rival of Busyfeet that it faces on the other corner of Chatham and South William Streets. So the only fair thing to do is to cover them both. Metro has an advantage in having outdoor seating and this can be a lovely little late afternoon suntrap to catch some rays, as you slurp your coffee.

The staff in here are friendly, almost overpoweringly so. Put it this way: you'll never be ignored, as soon as you darken the door, you're immediately pounced on with a killer smile and whisked to a table. This is not necessarily a bad thing. This is a great place for lunchtime, despite its busyness. The front part is a bit of a bottleneck, but there's a more space down the back, but it's non-smoking.

The sandwiches are good here with all kinds of breads and styles to choose from like ciabatta, cracked wholegrain, bagels, croissants and so on. As for fillings there's Eastern Chicken, chicken Dijon, Hickory Smoked Ham, classic tuna and premium turkey. (I'm very glad they're not palming us off with merely average Turkey!) There are toasties, Breakfast rolls, salads and gourmet sandwiches like the American style Pastrami (€5.95).

As a price guide, it's €2.05 for a regular Café Au Lait and €2.80 for a large one. There are all the main coffee types, there are juices like mango and apple and for something sweet, there are very-nice looking lemon tarts and chocolate mousse, although we were good on our visit.
