Papaya is a delicious thai restaurant offering a lunch,dinner
and delivery service at reasonable prices.
Papaya provides a take-away service between 6 and 11pm Monday to Saturday. This Thai restaurant will deliver to anywhere in Dublin and it costs as little as €3 for deliveries in the city centre.
Although this convenient service is offered, it's worthwhile spending an evening in this very comfortable restaurant. Located in the basement of one of the magnificent buildings in Ely place, the original high-vaulted ceiling makes it bright and airy with a large fireplace dominating one end of the room. The dining room is simply furnished with white linen, plain glassware and modern cutlery.
Both lunch and dinner menus are reasonably priced with a simple and inexpensive wine list. Lunch is served between 12-3pm Monday to Friday. The menu is short and sweet offering a simple selection of Thai dishes tempered for the Irish palate.
Appetizers include Papaya Platter (for 2 persons) which is an assortment of three appetizers- chicken satay, spring rolls, shrimp taost for €9 and and the less experimental Vegetarian Spring Rolls with plum sauce. Mains served for lunch include Kaeng Kiew Wan, a very popular Thai beef green curry and coconut milk with bamboo shoot, basil, chilli, green peas. There is a choice of two side dishes, steamed rice or egg fried rice.
The a la carte dinner consists of a more detailed selection of choices for. Appetizers and soups are on offer and main courses are divided up into House Specialities, Seafood, Poultry and Meats and Vegetarian and noodle dishes. There's also a larger selection of side dishes with sticky rice and stir fried egg noodles also on offer.
Papaya is an excellent restaurant, set in comfortable surroundings with a very reasonably priced menu. It also has the added bonus of a delivery service for those rainy evenings when it's too cold to venture outside!
