The Duke
The Duke does a good carvery lunch or sandwiches, whichever your fancy is on the day. Whenever I meet my Dad for lunch, the Duke always is one of the first suggestions as its central, but it's handy for me and close to the Setanta carpark, so it's handy for him. The carvery is served from 12 to 3 every day. On Saturday and Sunday, it goes a little longer until about 4. Food goes on being sold until 5 each day. There's a good sandwich and soup bar there too. The service is good, even if a good meat and veg meal won't leave much change out of €10. Unfortunately that's pretty much the going rate these days for carvery.

The Duke prides itself on a literary history which like Davy Byrnes and McDaids is based upon being frequented by the that bunch of alcoholics named Joyce, Behan, O'Nolan and Kavanagh. The fact that they were also terrific writers saved them from ignominy and many pubs from penury.
