K3 is the young and trendy section of the revamped Kiely's pub in
Dublin. The 'old'
pub is still Kiely's and the 'new' chrome and staircases area is called
K3.
I spent an afternoon in K3 to sample the 'pub grub' being served. A carvery is served Monday to Saturday and Kiely's Menu is also on offer in K3 seven days a week. There are Platters available at €4.00 per person and K3 will also cater for parties.
K3 starters are varied, providing the general starters that you would expect in any restaurant such as soup of the day, fresh seafood chowder, and a salad. There is also Marinated Chicken Wings on offer as well as Tahini and Smoked Chicken Crustini with roast chilli and sesame seed oil.
K3 Mains include the traditional pub menu with some surprises. The average cost for a meal is around €12.00. This may seem expensive for “pub grub” but the servings are generous and the quality is excellent. Traditional Fish and Chips and Sirloin Steak are on offer as well as Joint of the day which is served with fresh vegetables, potatoes and a rich roast gravy.
For those looking for a more exotic and spicy meal, try the Mexican Spiced Chilli with Jalapenos served with turmeric rice encased in a warm tortilla basket topped with mozzarella and refried beans. If craving Asian food, there's the Thai Style Stir Fry with Coriander and Lime served with a choice of either marinated chicken or beef. There's also two pasta dishes on the menu: Pasta Prima Vera and Spinach and Ricotta Tortillini.
Selections of freshly made desserts are available daily and there's a relatively comprehensive wine list and even Champagne on offer. But let's face it, the general attraction with 'pub grub' is the pint that served alongside and K3 have an excellent selection of taps.
K3 provides a sufficient selection of pub food at a high standard to ensure that there is something to suit everyone's taste buds!
