One of Dublin's most famous pubs and enriched in the heritage of the city, The Old Stand has served happy customers pints for over 300 years. Recently it's excellent reputation has also been praised for serving some of the best pub food in Dublin.
Decorated in Victorian design, the Old Stand is located on one of Dublin's oldest medieval streets, Exchequer Street. This pub is full of history and antiques, sporting a large Welsh dresser of Austrian wood and horse brass decorates the main bar. On the first floor there are two of Fergus O'Ryan's expressive paintings of Fishamble Street and Blackhall Place.
What's distinctive about the Old Stand food menu is the tasty Hot Lunches on offer. This Dublin watering hole also serves a small selection of very famous fish salads and provides an extensive wine list to provide the perfect accompaniment. The Hot lunches include succulent steaks cooked on a griddle, from sirloin to ham to grilled salmon steak. A delicious homemade soup is offered daily. A good selection of meat and fish salads can be sampled and open sandwiches are also served.
