101 Talbot has consistently attracted a loyal clientele since it opened in 1991. Located upstairs at its name address, this is an informal, but thoroughly high quality restaurant. It's perfectly placed for pre-theatre diners going to either the Abbey around the corner or the Gate at the North end of O'Connell Street.
The room has an interesting design with the central space at a lower level than the rim. There are tables in both sections, which makes it ideal for people watching. There are always art or photographic exhibitions going on here and the pictures of the current one hang on the walls for your perusal. The 101 has a world menu with seafood, pasta, steak, pork and a lot of vegan dishes. It changes weekly.
So if you're looking for gourmet fare served in an informal setting with prices that won't make your wallet droop, then this is a great option. Oh and it's a good idea to ring ahead and book, as this is a popular place.
